What you need to know about Netflix, including how to get the best content from it.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has been touting a Netflix TV experience for more than a year now, and he’s now taking the wraps off the service’s new $7.99 “subscription” plan.
It’s basically like a premium Netflix account that offers more channels and movies, but costs $7 per month for unlimited access.
It comes with the same features, but it also includes an app-like “video” section that lets you stream the latest shows from HBO, Showtime, FX, and others.
“We think this is a new model for the Netflix family, and we’re excited to bring it to people across the world,” Hastings told reporters in January.
“You’re going to see more and more Netflix movies and TV series from people from around the world, and they’ll be able to enjoy them on a regular basis, rather than having to sit through the commercials.”
The company’s announcement comes at a critical moment for the streaming service.
With the end of the subscription model in sight, Hastings wants to make sure that users are happy with their subscription.
This plan, which is also available on other services like HBO Go, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu Plus, is designed to appeal to the most dedicated Netflix watchers, who are still looking for a way to access and enjoy content from the company’s huge catalog.
“We know this is going to be a new market for us, and there are a lot of people who have not signed up for Netflix for awhile,” Hastings said.
“This is an opportunity to give them the opportunity to do so, and it’s also going to open the door for them to get access to more of the Netflix library.
While Hastings hasn’t announced a price for the plan, it’ll be available starting this fall.
If you want to sign up right away, you can sign up at the site and select the option to sign for a trial period.
You’ll need a Netflix account to sign into the service, which means that you’ll need to set up your own VPN service or create an account with a VPN provider to get a free trial.
The service also has a separate, $2.99 annual subscription plan that can be used for unlimited streaming.
To get started, you’ll also need a Roku box, a USB cable, and some extra USB dongles, which are included with the service.
